San Francisco — June 7, 2007 — Yoono, www.yoono.com, today announced it was selected by the editors at CNET’s Webware as a finalist in the first “Webware 100″ awards.
Yoono was chosen as a finalist in the Community category from more than 5,000 user-submitted nominations. Winners will be announced on Monday, June 18 and posted on Webware.com, a CNET site.
Yoono is a social search community featuring a patent-pending recommendation engine. It already has 650,000 yoo’sers and is one of only 25 plugins featured in Mozilla’s Firefox extension showcase.
It qualifies results through people, whereas search engines display information ranked by keywords. It helps people find information more effectively by aligning their search with popular “bookmarked” destinations as ranked and qualified by other yoo’sers. Yoono aggregates bookmarks, RSS feeds and notes and currently ranks over 70 million links in its database.
The company also recently introduced Buzz It!, an extension to its social search plugin that combines search, research, annotation, and the ability to share packaged content with friends and associates. Buzz It! allows people to clip interesting text, links, images, and video and capture personal notes while surfing. Whether they’re researching topics, comparing prices for their next vacation, shopping for music or movies, or archiving favorite content, Yoono Buzz It! allows them to organize and save their information, and it’s accessible from any PC or Mac.
Unlike other highlighter, social bookmarking tools, Web clippers, or online “Sticky Notes,” Buzz It! combines all of the above in an easy-to-use, integrated rich media applet. It becomes an all-in-one resource for not only capturing and saving information for later reference, but is also portable, providing automatic and seamless posting to blogs, social networks, email, as well as their own Yoono Buzzlog homepages.
The “Webware 100” Awards recognize the best Web 2.0 sites, services, and applications that are leading the next wave of innovation. Voting is open to the public through June 11.
