Yoono 5.2 is live!

Over the past few months, we’ve spent great time and effort to make this version of Yoono the best yet. This release includes our shopping widget just in time for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The shopping widget makes product recommendations as you browse the web and helps you save money in an easy and fun way. With integrated social shopping, sharing products with family & friends couldn’t be easier. The widget opens an closes with a click of the mouse. It’s unobtrusive and fun.

In the shopping widget, users can search for products listed all over the web or they can choose to only search auction items located in eBay. As the user browses the web, products are recommended based on the content on the web page you’re viewing. Once a product list is populated, the user can then sort by price (low to high, high to low) or organize by the most relevant listings. Once they find a product that works for them, they can buy it by clicking on the image of the listing or share that result over Twitter, Friendfeed and Facebook

Jason Kincaid of Techcrunch writes, “As users browse the web, the Shopping widget will automatically search for relevant goods for purchase across shopping partners like Amazon, eBay, and iTunes (the site gets paid if users click the link or buy a product). I think that this approach to generating revenue beats putting display ads in the sidebar”

This release comes shortly after our 5.1 update that delivered the addition of Myspace and imeem networks and a completely revamped user interface. The new UI is a welcome change and the Yoono community loves it.

The new shopping widget is so much fun. I’ve been using it for a week now and finding product with photos is incredibly easy and it will change the way I do holiday shopping. Also today, we are releasing The Yoono Sidebar for Internet Explorer. The release for IE means there will be more Yoono community members for you to interact with and helps us reach more new users.
