After many months of hard work and reviewing feedback from thousands of users via Twitter, blogs and our support forums, we’re pleased to announce Yoono 7! We’re confident it delivers the best performance, feature set, and user experience of any Yoono product to date. Yoono 7 allows you to create an incredibly powerful real time social stream inside your browser (Yoono Desktop will also be updated SOON!) yet does it with a lightweight footprint from both a UI and system resources perspective. Here’s a quick overview of what’s new (for those of you who prefer a sit back and listen approach to learning, you can view the screencast at the bottom of this post!):
Support for new services & features
We took a look at the latest functionality available to third parties from all your favorite social networks and integrated them into Yoono 7:
- LinkedIn – Yoono 7 is one of the first social apps to support LinkedIn’s brand new API. Get all your LinkedIn updates and update your status at the same time you update Twitter and Facebook.
- Support for multiple accounts across your social networks – not just Twitter but multi-account support for Facebook, MySpace and more. Not only that but Yoono integrates a profile selector into Firefox for easy profile switching while browsing.
- View your Facebook Inbox and Notifications within Yoono
- Support for Twitter’s new retweet feature and layout
- Easily upload photos to Twitter and your other social networks via our new partner yFrog.
Powerful Stream Management Tools
Your real time social stream flows quickly and we know you need tools to help you manage it. In addition to the ability to hide any user or app in your stream, functionality we delivered in the previous release of Yoono, we’ve added:

- Yoono Groups – add users from any of your services to a Yoono Group and then filter your stream by group. Top Friends, Tech News, Sneaker Pimps, you name it.
- Support for Twitter Lists – view all your Twitter Lists in Yoono (support for creating and adding to lists coming soon)
- Full text search of your social stream – Yoono 7 leverages SQLite support in html 5 to store up to 25,000 of your most recent updates and make them instantly searchable. This is all done on your computer – not on our servers – for complete privacy.
The best performing, least resource intensive version of Yoono ever
- We’ve rewritten much of Yoono in order to improve performance – it’s significantly faster and uses less memory and CPU than previous versions of Yoono and in our testing compares very favorably to other social apps (Adobe Air apps you know who you are!)
- We’ve worked on improving connections to key social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace
- We’ve added hardware and re-architected our Instant Messaging servers to improve reliability
…plus a ton of other improvements and additions that you’ve been clamoring for! We’ll cover many of the above and some of the other new features of Yoono 7 in upcoming blog posts so stay tuned. Today we’re launching the Yoono 7 version of our Firefox add-on (get it here) and we’ll follow up soon with updated versions of our Desktop app and IE add-on. As always, we look forward to your feedback. As an extra bonus, here is a screencast that demonstrates some of the new features of Yoono 7:
