One of our most frequently requested features has been the ability to share pictures from your computer via your Twitter account. We’ve supported sharing web content (links, images, videos, etc.) for a long time now but until Yoono 7 hadn’t added support for uploads for Twitter in particular. As we were designing Yoono 7 and adding this functionality we took a look around at some of the image sharing/hosting services out there and one of them stood out – Yfrog.
Making Yfrog our default service wa
s a no-brainer because:
- We wanted something reliable and scalable. Yfrog’s infrastructure is powered by Imageshack which has been hosting media since 2003. Imageshack reaches over 60 million monthly users and serves over 2.5 billion media hits/day.
- We wanted something that was fast and easy. With YFrog and their use of oAuth we were able to quickly integrate this feature and make it seamless to Yoono users. Your twitter credentials provided when you connect Yoono to Twitter are automatically used and media is shared in real-time.
To share an image or video using Yfrog, just click on the camera icon in the status update box (see screenshot) and then click update. The media is shared via a shortened URL across Twitter and your other social networks.
It’s that easy…just like our decision to use YFrog.
