Twitter customer Service
With so much exposure and transparency on social networks, it’s important that companies are attentive to their user base and the person acting as community manager or chief of customer service needs to be aware of the various outlets that their customers will be sounding off.

I follow Twitter, Technorati, Google Blog Search, Google Alerts and our forums and I am always waiting for a bit of feedback about our service. It’s usually good but sometimes there are some complaints that can generally be resolved over a few tweets or a couple of emails. What customers love is speed and responsiveness from the companies that assist them. You may know about Twitter and search for your company once a week but that isn’t good enough. Someone is complaining on Monday and you reply on Friday it makes you look worse than if you had never replied at all. Every company should be on Twitter at the very least.

I do this daily. I always keep a window open to this page waiting for someone to mention our company so I can help them out. This is crucial and it pays off every time.

We’d like to give you all the proper introduction to the team that makes the awesomeness that is Yoono happen. Over the next couple of weeks we’ll be introducing you to heart & soul of the company. Starting with the executive team, these are the maniacs behind Yoono:

An avid hunter, Pascal “Iceman” Josselin’s latest venture aims to bring all the social aspects of the web right to your fingers-tips with Yoono. Find Pascal on LinkedIn, Facebook, Flickr and follow him on Twitter.

Laurent Quérel, CTO and Founder.
Laurent “Goose” Quérel is the mad scientist that makes Yoono tick. He began his career as a development engineer with Fi System, integrating specialized services on the Web. Find him on LinkedIn, Facebook and follow him on Twitter.

Regan Fletcher, VP Business Development
Regan joined the team in 2007 to oversee Yoono’s strategic partnerships from our San Francisco office. “Slider” is a hard-hitting hockey player who’s built teams on three start-ups in the past seven years. Find him on Facebook, LinkedIn and follow him on Twitter.

Pierre-Yves Platini, Marketing Director

Here at Yoono we’ve got tons of cool ideas floating around that we think are going to make living on the web a whole lot more fun for you. You’ll start seeing these ideas come out as we make improvements and updates to the public beta version of Yoono.

We’ve also been listening to what you’ve been telling us about what you like and don’t like about Yoono. Keep the feedback coming! Please!

Some of the biggest concerns we’ve heard from you are about your personal privacy. Since we take this issue very seriously at Yoono, we thought we would take a minute to explain some main points from our Privacy Policy. Here’s how it works:

Info You Provide Us
When you install Yoono and register, you give us info like your name and email address. Sometimes if you correspond to us via email, we’ll hold onto those messages and your email address to help us improve our customer service and stay in contact with you.

What does this mean for you?
We’ll email you only about Yoono: if we’re looking for feedback, when you need help with the toolbar, if you forget your password, or if we’re throwing a party :) . And we’ll never give your email and name to a third party, we know what getting spam is all about and we’d never do that to you.

Cookies
Yoono uses cookies or small text files to help to quickly identify your computer to make logging in and navigating a lot faster. These cookies never collect your personal information. Third parties only get the keywords collected during your surf sessions for relevant info, links and ads. We do this to make your web experience better!

What does this mean for you?
All that analysis that goes into recommending relevant sites and content happens in your browser. Yoono never tracks where you are surfing, the sidebar just extracts keywords.

Bookmarks
Yoono takes the bookmarks that you save on your browser and uses keywords from those bookmarks to display in your member profile. If you choose to sync your bookmarks but not to share them with the rest of the community, nobody will see them

What does this mean for you?
You can sync your bookmarks with Yoono and will have them every time you log into Yoono,  on any computer. You can chose to share your bookmarks or keep them private.

Your Personal Info
Yoono will never rent or sell your personally identifiable info to others. We use your personal information solely for the purpose of providing services to you.

What does this exactly mean for you?
We would never share any of your important information with anyone outside of Yoono. And we only use the info you give us to provide you with Yoono services.
When you integrate your Facebook, Twitter, Flickr etc. account into Yoono, it doesn’t change anything regarding the privacy options you set up on those different networks. When you connect on Yoono with people you are not connected with on Facebook, they won’t be able to access your Facebook profile. Likewise, your Twitter friends won’t see your Flickr account if you add Twitter and Flickr to your Yoono.
Non-Personal Info
Sometimes people are interested in what’s going on with Yoono, so we occasionally provide them with anonymous info like usage data.

What does this exactly mean?
We’ll give people like reporters info such as downloads rates, number of clicks, and platform types. None of this info can be used to identify you

Yoono works with third party ad-servers and ad networks to display advertisements and links directly in the sidebar.  Sometimes third parties automatically retrieve your IP address, but will never take your name or any personal info.

What does this exactly mean?
We send keywords to advertisers and they send us back relevant ads we display in your. Advertisers never accees or take your personal information.

Yoono takes every possible step to protect your private information.  Please read our Privacy Policy and our Terms of Agreement for the whole story.

And if you have any questions or concerns please lets us know at Privacy [at] Yoono [dot] com.

Contrary to what you might have read here or there, the Buzz It! functionality has not been released by Yoono yet, other than a private Beta release sent to the Happy Few…
And they got so excited about what they saw, they could not help but talk about it and wish it was released sooner that planned :-)

It will allow you to collect stuff you like on any webpage, in no more than a few clicks, and build good looking themed documents that you will be able to publish, send, share, update, post, … you name it !

If you would like to be notified when this feature is publicly available, please register your email address below. We guarantee it won’t be used for any other purpose, and won’t be sold or disclosed to anyone.

Update on May 24th:

If you registered to be notified when BuzzIt is available, you have received or will receive an email from us shortly. But why wait more ?! Install or upgrade from Mozilla Add-ons website !
