SXSW 09 Social Calendario

.

.

South by Southwest is this week. It’s already started in Austin, TX but my favorite part which is the Interactive leg of the conference kicks off this Friday (The 13th). A tech and web conference means that there will be HUNDREDS of parties / events around the event. Every year, more and more parties happen and each year all of them are completely packed with people. I’m excited to announce a simple but useful calendar that can help you keep all of this under control.

.

You all know SocialCalendario has been around for nearly 5 months and has helped bay area tech fans find all of the parties without digging through dozens of party lists. Well, I decided to spend an hour a day for the last 4 weeks collecting SXSW parties and I’ve added over 300 parties to the calendar between the 12th-18th of this month and all of them take place in Austin Texas. I noticed that there weren’t any tech parties taking place in San Francisco this week so I spent the last 12 hours today compiling these SXSW parties onto my calendar. I hope you enjoy!

I started using Wakoopa 2 months ago and it’s been a fun way to track my computer usage. Wakoopa offers an installer for Mac and PC and eventually Linux that sits on a very small amount of ram to track your usage patterns of software and what websites you visit. The privacy can be completely tailored to what you want Wakoopa to track.

What’s cool about the software is that after a few days of use, you can view interactive pie charts regarding what software you spend the most time using. It tracks software you use most often, new software you’ve found and even how much time you spend on Twitter. I’ve found it to be very useful and there are even some social aspects of the service that allows you to befriend people that you already know and people that have similar software interests as you.

I was pleased to find out that my friend Justine Ezarik was a user and that we had similar software interests. Join Wakoopa, set it and forget it because it’s a really cool service.

September conference season has come to a close. Last week in events was very slow. It was so slow that we didn’t even post a calendar entry for the full week and instead announced parties on a case by case basis. This week is no different but I’m doing a blog entry anyway. These are events that Yoono will be attending. I hope you’ll join us.

Technorati has posted a State of the Blogosphere since 2004. The 2008 edition has just been released and it’s an awesome collection of statistics from a poll taken by bloggers that was administered by Technorati.

They’re releasing the 6 page report throughout the week but day’s 1-3 are online and it’s worth a read if you’re a blogger, advertiser or reader of blogs.
